The biggest mistake you, me, everyone you know and all of humanity are making right now is devaluing our inner guidance system. Humans are born with an internal guidance system that literally tells you what to do to be happy, fulfilled, and loved, yet far too few of us tune into this guidance system and even fewer of us respond to it. Our language is full of references to our inner guidance and references to how we devalue and disregard it. Expressions like "a chill just went through me" "that gave me the shivers" "I just feel something isn't right" "I can't put my finger on it but..." "my heart wants to" and "do what your gut tells you too" are all examples that we know there is inner guidance but these expressions are often followed up by "its all in my head" "its not logical" "I can't prove it" "it doesn't make sense" "I'm just being silly" and "I'm just imagining things". What if your wrong? what if your imagination is actually guiding you to your truth? That chill, the tightness in your stomach, that knowing you can't explain are all telling you something isn't right. Our feelings are also telling us messages. If you are angry maybe you let someone cross a boundary, you didn't hold strength to what you knew to be right for you. Sadness is telling you to take time for yourself to reflect & heal. Frustration is telling you to take a different approach. Joy is telling you things are right. You just have to tune inward and listen. When we tune inward to our inner guidance system we can navigate through the abundance of experiences available on earth towards expressing our true selves in the unique ways that we are designed to express. Reiki teaches us how to listen and connect with our inner guidance system, it also gives us the power to heal our wounds and experience & express Divine Love. Reiki tunes our humanity into the clear expression we are meant to be. It teaches us how to be in service to others without depleting ourselves, but rather improving ourselves at the same time we give. Reiki is not a deity to be worshiped, it is not a program we follow, it is not a set of rules for life. Reiki is Divinely Guided Life Force Energy all of which is inside you waiting for you to listen.

I have a love of rock shops. Whenever I find one I will spend hours drifting through, trying to feel which rocks 'speak' to me and I especially love to get into the meaning of rocks. It is a funny past time since I rarely remember what they all mean, I tend to get overwhelmed. I have my favorites of course. Quartz are always great, love the clusters for just placing around my house or gifting to others. I use quartz crystals in my Reiki Grids, for mediation and sometimes when I am giving Reiki sessions to amp up the energy. Quartz always remind me of Superman's Fortress of Solitude. Lamarian's learned to use quartz for its power conducting abilities, it was a major part of their spiritual based society. Some people believe the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is caused by a giant quartz generator left buried deep. Quartz has a way of showing up in many, many places for many uses and just like the stone itself which to me can appear kinda dull until you look closely then there is all kinds of wonder inside. Lapis Lazuli is one I wear often. I have a beautiful heart necklace stone that helps with my throat chakra open up, your throat chakra is all about communication and expression. Many people have trouble with the throat chakra as past lives often have choking, beheading, and/or hanging. Moldavite is fascinating. Its a forest green rock formed millions of years ago when a meteor hit southern Germany, its a somewhat rare 'space' rock found only in Moldau Valley of the Czech Republic. It is known for its transformational powers. I often get this stone mixed up with Malachite, a stone also good for transformation and a little easier to find in my experience. I also love the look of Malachite, it reminds me of marble but with mystic and less polish. Moldavite is more glass like to me. I wear Malachite a lot, its a beautiful stone that heals and purifies the chakras, especially the heart. It is about letting the past go and moving forward towards change, abundance and passion. Amethyst is always beautiful, a very popular stone most people are aware of. It is a variation of quartz known for increasing spiritual awareness, protect against psychic attack and release mental stress. It works in the emotional, mental and spiritual fields to promote calm, balance and peace. Excellent for meditation and channeling with your higher self, guides and beings of light. Citrine is an absolute favorite of mine, not the first stone I think of when I want something pretty but I am always drawn towards it. I have a few around my home because the stone spokes to me. It is similar to the quartz but connected to the third chakra so it connects its energy with the physical body more than quartz. It is often used in Grids for abundance and achieving goals, great for empowering affirmations. It increases your self respect and encourages your soul expression, harmonizing your physical self with your spiritual awareness. These are my top favorites, there are definitely more but I will write about them another day as right now I'm tired. Even though the Canadian Government has legalized pot I encourage you to Go get Stoned with Rocks instead. hahahahaha. Being sensitive to the energies, emotions and thoughts of the people and environment you are in can leave you feeling drained, exhausted and overwhelmed. These traits often feel more like a burden than a gift. Many years ago I felt very overwhelmed by my life, felt out of control and burdened by what should have made me joyful. Reiki helped me. To be honest the reason I took my first Reiki course was simply to get out of my house. It represented 8 hours of no pressure, burdens or responsibilities and that is what I needed so badly. Once I started working with the Reiki energy I knew I was on to something. I started to feel calmer inside, felt stronger and more in control. I had a tool that seemed to be doing something positive, although I didn’t really understand what it was doing. So I took level 2. Again, with honesty I will say the idea of another 8 hours of no pressure, burdens or responsibilities was highly enticing, but this time my curiosity was hooked. I knew there was more to this, I knew I had something important at my fingertips and I knew it was tangible. After Level 2 I really noticed the shift in who I was and in my environment. I had always been sensitive, intuitive and energetically aware, but in all the courses I had ever taken on spirituality and personal development (and there were alot!) none had felt so life changing, so empowering and so real. Eventually my walk with Reiki developed from a tool I used to being a way of life. I went on to take my Master/Teacher and then my Karuna Master/Teachers. I embraced the Holy Fire energies when they were added. I welcomed students along the way, slowly my Reiki tool turned into a Reiki life. Eventually I was invited to join the Oasis Rejuvenation Spa & Retreat Team where I participated in wellness programs with a variety of practitioners from different modalities and with a variety of clients from moderate to very serious health issues both physically and mentally. I also continued to teach and started a monthly Reiki Share group that has been a stable resource to my students & the public for five years. This is a life I have been so blessed to live! Thank you for reading my story and I encourage you to embrace Reiki in your life too.
Why are affirmations & visualizations not working?
Why am I doing lots and lots of personal development and positive thinking but nothing is changing? Why am I so frustrated? This was me for a long time; reading books, taking courses, meditating and doing anything & everything to try and make sense out of my world. I knew there was more to life than the mundane old program, I knew there was something to all this energy talk and evolution of mankind but no matter how much time I spent meditating, repeating affirmations, visualizing and positive living my life did not get better, as a matter of fact, in a lot of ways, it was getting worse! WHY? WHY? WHY? I asked the universe over and over! I am an intelligent person, I understand the material, I get the idea and I am doing all the right things! Then one day I got it! I figured out the missing piece! It suddenly all made sense - I wasn't showing up! That's it, simple. I had stopped showing up in my life. What does that mean? It means we live in a physical world and the only thing that will change the physical world is physical action! I was working really hard on the mental/emotional/spiritual aspects of myself but I wasn't taking ACTION. I was waiting for the world around me to catch up to my vibes and transform, but that is not how it works! Now I wasn't sitting in the corner of a dark room alone literally doing nothing. I was raising my kids and having a life, it was a good life but it wasn't making me happy. I wanted more, or different, or something. My kids are great, I love my husband, I have a wonderful family, a nice house and am a pretty well loved lady, so what was so wrong? I was wrong! I wasn't living as me, the true me! I was following the societal program that said what a mother, wife, friend, daughter, and woman is. I had given up my control and responsibility to the program. I had buried the 'real' me so far inside that all I could identify was the restlessness that kept demanding to be heard. Once I realized that it was my actions that were creating my life circumstances I felt empowered. No longer did I have to continue the cycle of the same arguments, frustrations and mundane activities! Once I started choosing new actions I got another surprise I wasn’t expecting. I started bumping into the programs and beliefs inside me that were wrong, the ones that were created to survive the societal program and were keeping the real me suppressed. The ones that said “you can’t do that” “that’s too risky” “people will laugh at you” “you are crazy” and “people will be offended”. I had to heal those programs and change those beliefs. Every time I did my life got better. Once I started 'Showing Up' in my life and the true me, the real me, started to emerge I realized that there was still a lot more mystery to truly being in charge of creating my life my way. I started studying the Universal laws of gestation, karma, attraction, relativity and manifestation. I embraced my work with Reiki and the Akashic Records and learned as much as I could, applying what I learned as I went. Finally it all started to make sense, it all came together and I understood how to create the life I want. Do you want to know the secret? The missing piece? Here it is. The key to it all. Show up today as the person who is living your dream life. In other words, take action today as if you are already living the dream. Simple right? It is. If this makes sense to you, great, apply and let the universe deliver! If you are like me and this sends your mind into a tizzy of whaaatttttt????? Then I extend my hand & heart to you, one soul to another, come work with me. Book a healing session, join me for a Reiki Share or attend my workshop Chaos to Calm, these are great places to start. Well, Divine Spirit, things didn't go so well today, as I'm sure you know. So thanks for giving me the help to get through it - and thanks for making everything better....which I know is what is going to happen! I'm glad you're here, Divine Spirit. I'm really glad you're here!
I have faith that life is on my side. I have faith that I can do anything I set my mind to. I have faith that things will always be okay with me, and that all things work out for my highest good in the end. I have faith that Divine Spirit loves me completely, without condition, reservation, or limitation, and that I am never alone, or outside the embrace of Divine Spirit. I have faith that I will be Home with the Divine Spirit when this physical life ends. Faith has served me. It has given me strength when things did not seem to be going my way. It has brought me comfort in times of loss, optimism when I might have been tempted to feel hopeless, and enthusiasm for tomorrow even if my "today" made it look as if my future might not ever be bright again. In short, it has kept me in a positive frame of mind the majority of the time. More often than not I look for the solution when others see problems. More often than not I see molehills where others make mountains. More often than not I go for the gold when others are willing to settle for bronze - or no medal at all in the Olympics of life - not because I need or want to be a "winner", but because I hold quite naturally the idea that we are all intended to be winners, that life was made for us to be happy, and that all we have to do to get to that place is understand who we are and why we are here....and, of course, that Divine Spirit and Life are on our side. There is a direct connection between positive thinking and positive outcomes. If that's what's best for you, Divine Spirit will help you make it happen. And if it's not what's best for you, Spirit will bring you something better - Thank you, Divine Spirit, for this or something better. Divine Spirit is always there, and always on your side. You don't have to go anywhere or do anything to find Divine Spirit..... Spirit is right here. Divine Spirit is with you always..in all ways. You need help? Just ask. You'll get it. Divine Blessings to you Love Always, All Ways......... Loneliness on the Healing Journey…. It is difficult sometimes to realize you are surrounded by loved ones and yet feel so lonely. Overwhelmed with feelings you don’t want and often don’t understand, wanting to talk, wanting help but realizing that you cannot speak to anyone, as they will not understand. It’s not them, it’s you. It doesn’t matter what kind of healing work you are doing from physical massage or acupressure to meditation or Reiki or any other healing modality the process of change is an inner one. With each layer healed emotions are released and random thoughts arise, some accurate, some not but all very real. This healing of your body & soul is deep and personal. Often what rises doesn’t make sense and yet the emotional charge is there, very real. This process is between you and the Divine Spirit, it is a personal one. As you process through the pain, the emotional charge and the remembered hurts, you heal. You release what has been stored within you causing toxic habits, fears, worries and self-destructive behavior; it is time to let these go. Let these go back to Creator, ask Creator to recycle these energies into positive healing vibrations for the greater good of all. Ask Creator to heal you, to fill each one of these wounds with Divine Love, to remove the traumas but leave the lessons, to wash away the scars with Divine Light. Ask Creator to shine Divine Love and Light on the energetic wake left behind from this healing, heal all those who have been affected in any way. As the loneliness heals within you, so will your relationships around you. The distance you feel is temporary, it is a sign that you are changing, that you are healing and growing on your spiritual path. As you come out of your inner world have patients with your loved ones for they have been healed and changed too, yet their process may not be done yet. You chose to heal deeply and spiritually, you chose consciously to go through this work, your loved ones did not. You asked Divine Spirit to heal you and those around you, but your loved ones chose subconsciously, they chose on a spiritual level of awareness by having their relationship with you. Often these spiritual healings cause great upheaval in our environments; from relationships, to physical surroundings, to careers and hobbies. These upheavals of change can be quite overwhelming and chaotic for all those involved. This is the time for patients, trust & faith. Patients; have patients with yourself, with those you love, with time, with process. Trust; have trust in the Divine Creator, in yourself and those you love. Faith; have Faith in Creator, the higher good, in the Divine Love & Light we all share. Eventually your world will harmonize with the healed you; some relationships will evolve into richer deeper connections and other relationships will drift away. Careers, hobbies and physical surroundings may change or may simply feel more comfortable and inspiring. The loneliness will pass for now…… In today's society we are spiritually lost. In previous generations people have always turned to religion and/or church for support, guidance, belonging, connection and a sense of community. People today want the same things but religion and church don't seem so comfortable anymore. We want freedom to explore our own ideas wherever they may take us, yet we have a strong sense that there is more, something larger, greater and more powerful than us and we need connection and protection from something Divine.
Reiki is a non-denominational healing modality that is compatible with any belief system. Reiki means spiritually guided life force energy. That's it, there is nothing more, but within that is everything. Tradition, respect, honor, discipline, guidance, freedom and so much more. Every Reiki Teacher has their own 'additions' that they teach along with Reiki, giving their own personal touch and their unique expression to each student. Many people see Orbs and wonder what they are. All over the web you will find people have theories on what ‘orbs’ are. As for myself, most of the time when people show me orbs my background as a photographer quickly identifies the source but for those other times…… I have always regarded them as spirits, fairies and angels. How do you know what you have seen? You have to trust yourself. You do know. The question to ask is how did you feel? When we acknowledge seeing something like an orb it is natural to feel unsettled at the strangeness or unfamiliarity, but did you feel scared or angry with a strong desire to get away, or did you feel curious, surprised, or ‘special’ in some way? How do you know if what you see is not a negative entity? A spirit, fairy or angel may not make you have an abundance feeling of love due to our own cautious nature, but it will give you a pleasant response whereas a negative spirit will sharpen or harshen our feelings and a part of us will be repelled away. Even the trickiest of negative spirits who try to appeal to our ‘softer side’ will do so through soothing sadness or comforting sorrowful feelings whereas positive entities will ‘lighten’ our burdens. Another way of identifying the difference is the feelings of wallowing versus being lifted up. If you are ever in doubt call upon the light of Divine Spirit. How do I know if it is a spirit, fairy or angel? Spirits rarely become visible to us, it is very difficult as it requires a lot of energy but occasionally they do appear. A positive spirit will be sensitive to your comfort, inside of you a name, image or sense of who it is will emerge and often this is accompanied by a message. When a fairy appears it is of great honor as few people have seen them. These little entities are playful and you wont be able to contain the smile that they inspire. Fairies won't hesitate to scold you if they feel you have mistreated or disrespected an animal or nature in some way, or if you should be doing more for our earth environment. They will also direct or inspire us to do more for nature and remind you of your connection to mother earth. Fairies will thank you as well. These are delightful little spirits that are passionately protective of our natural environment on earth. I encourage you to send them love and thank then for the job they do. Of all the orbs Angels appear most often. Angels lift us up form our burdens, spread love, encourage, inspire, support, nurture and heal - all we have to do is ask and they will give. Angel's always work in our highest good and, due to our free will, will only help when we ask. If you see an angel orb it is a reminder to talk to the angels, they are there to support you in every way, sent by the Divine Spirit that connects us all. If you feel that the angels are not delivering what you asked for then trust that what you have asked for is not in your highest good. Angels have a perspective on our earthly lives that is far bigger than what we as incarnated souls understand, they know our soul's true desires and needs. Angels always answer our prayers, but not always the way we have asked for. They will guide us, provide choices and give us strength but never will they make the decision of action for us, that is our free will. Have you seen an Orb?? Send me a message and let me know your Orb story?
Tip #1 - Remember you are both individuals
You are two completely separate individuals who are sharing each others lives. You do not need to have the same likes, the same experiences or even the same opinions, but you do need to honor yourself for your individuality and honor your partner for their individuality. Tip#2 - You are on the same TEAM Yes you are a team, if no one ever told you that, well I am telling you now. You are two individual players on the same team in the game of life. Tip #3 - Play your position If every person on a team played the same position the team would fail. You work together towards the goal(s), each person playing their position to the best of their abilities. Tip #4 - Assume the other player is doing their best Always build each other up, encouragement and support makes for a stronger team. Tearing each other down, pointing out each other's faults will break the team. Tip#5 - Pick up the ball If a player is hurt, makes a mistake or receives a penalty, then pick up the ball until the player is back in the game. Tip#6 - Ask for what you need Your partner is trusting you to play your position and they are playing theirs, if you need something than ask! Do not assume your partner is following after you checking to see if you are ok. This is a big compliment and an act of trust, so honor it and ask for what you need. Tip #7 - Celebrate the scores! When one of you succeeds or has a great play celebrate together. Be happy for your partner, acknowledge their goals and let them enjoy their moment in the sun. Tip #8 - Huddle Every team takes moments to pull together and set the game play, you need to do this in your marriage too. Make time to review, learn and take stock of the playbook, make sure you both understand the game, the goals and the plays to get there. I hope you enjoyed The Game of Life Relationship Tips. One of the greatest joys in the human experience is the connection between two souls who are committed to journey through life together. These relationships bring us deep satisfaction and stretch our hearts with the depths of love. They also provide our greatest challenges and surface our biggest fears. As our relationships grow and mature they change, we have moments of deep passion, connection so strong it leaves us awed at its intensity and other moments when we feel completely confused wondering who is this stranger, what happened to my partner? Where did the person I married go? These are normal processes in long term relationships. Just like you grow and change as a person, so does your relationship. How you decide to react to these changes will make or break your relationship. It is not a surprise, nor is it new information that our thoughts effect our health and our happiness, but what is a relatively newer understanding is how our beliefs control our thoughts. It is through our belief system that our perception creates our thoughts which then inspire our emotions creating signal impulses that activate our hormones and the rest of our body systems. Bruce H Lipton, Ph.D, explains this process very scientifically yet understandable in his documentary "The Biology of Belief", I highly recommend watching if you would like more understanding of this process.
Beliefs are the filter which information is processed through, this is why no two people have the exact same experience in the exact same situation. Our beliefs are created primarily in the life stages from conception to age 6. According to Dr Rima Laibow in "Quantitative EEG and Neurofeedback" from birth to age 2 our brains are primarily functioning in the lower brain waves of 0.5 to 4hz known as delta brain waves, from ages 2 to 6 we spend more time in the higher brain waves of 4 - 8Hz known as theta brain waves. Theta brain wave frequency is known to be a more suggestible and programmable state. This is the ages when most of our beliefs are formed by the primary interactions with our parents and environment. Beliefs created by observation and cause and affect interaction. Our thoughts processed through the beliefs give us our individual perception and internal thought signals. This is why our New Years Resolutions often fail by the end of January. Putting all the positive thought and physical actions behind your goal may not be enough if your belief is not in alignment with the goal. So how do we get our beliefs in alignment with the goal?? That is the big question. Affirmations have always been the big answer to this question and in some cases do work, but most often they aren't quite enough. You can repeat an affirmation over and over but if your belief is unchanged you will not succeed. So how do we change the belief? Beliefs are held in the subconscious mind, so we must pass through the conscious to the subconscious and reprogram ourselves. The subconscious is most suggestible and programmable in the theta brain waves, Through deep meditation we can reach the theta state and change our beliefs, this does work for some but is often unattainable as it takes a great amount of practice and understanding of meditation to reach this. Karuna Reiki Healing can access the theta waves and very effectively work to change beliefs, as can theta healing and Psych K healing. Accessing the soul through the Akashic records is also very effective. All of these methods require training and assistance from someone else, and as you all know I am a big advocate of being self-empowered so what is my solution to you? Here it is - combine affirmations, visualization, meditation and brain gym exercises. Sounds complicated? It's not really. I will explain. Most of us already know about affirmations, these are positive statements of our intention, visualization is the mental picturing of desired outcome, meditation is the centering of the mind, body and soul, and the basics of brain gym exercises is the physical crossing of the bodies meridians designed to stimulate both sides of the brain. In application you would find a peaceful place to be with either silence or meditative music, do gentle exercises that cross the bodies meridian such as softly swinging your arms and touching opposite shoulders or thighs. Find a rhythmic pattern to your movement, relax and centre your mind within yourself. Now start repeating your affirmation and bring the visual of your goal succeeded. Repeat the affirmation but do not struggle with the image. Allow your mind/internal voice to bring up your fears and let them go, do not interact with the fears just notice as they rise up and fade away, continue with your affirmation. Stay in this process until you feel it is complete and your new belief is accepted. People often report a sense of lightness, a lifting of pressure, a warmth spread through them, or a sense of joy & peace when the process is complete. This morning I woke up feeling frustrated. I was so excited earlier in the week after an inspirational, motivating workshop I took on the weekend (Thank you Karen at Rock The Stage!). I have so much I have worked on, so much vision of where I am going and so much confidence on what I can do, but then my daily life activities take over. Routines of a busy life with kids, pets, family, friends, and home all require action from me. Groceries to buy, meals to prepare, house to clean, bills to pay, kids to chauffeur, mail to sort, information to organize – ever notice how much paper work there is? – crazy! Unforeseen events pop-up that require my attention, living true to my values and priorities, my daily actions are altered temporarily. I know that each one of these actions are in alignment with my values and priorities, these are what my life is about and I hold dear to my heart…. Just sometimes….every once in a while…..I feel frustrated! I feel torn between doing all the routine stuff that I know I must to make my life work and doing all the actions to align with my dreams. I get frustrated. I secretly dream about the long ago days of my 20’s that I wasted being lost, trying to find myself and not doing all the things I want to do right now!! Imagine if back then when I had so much time, imagine if I had been living my full authentic self! Of course I wouldn’t go back. Really I wouldn’t. I love my life, love my kids, my husband, my family, my friends, - all of it. Everything I do – I love it! I would not trade one moment for anything I have lived before. I am just frustrated.... So my frustration is not for what I don’t have, not for what I am not living, and not for anything that someone else is or is not doing. My frustration is about me. When I get frustrated it is because I am not living in the moment, I am living in the future. Frustration is about the future, it is about what has not happened yet. We need to be somewhere else, do something else, and get something done which is not what we are doing in the moment. It is also about trust. Trusting that you are in alignment with exactly where you want to be, where you are meant to be. Trusting that all things happen in their own perfect time. So with that thought I take a big sigh (sigh) and let the frustration go, I look at those sweet faces all around me and see them in the moment. In this moment I serve them the best of me and I love all of them, in complete alignment with my values & priorities that I have chosen, in complete alignment with the authentic me. Everything has its time. I love this beautiful time of year; the trees are turning colour, the kids are back in school and activities are moving forward after lazy summer days. With all these changes our emotions are being challenged. We live in a society where emotions are not valued, but they are our greatest gifts. Emotions are what inspire us; through love we express compassion and feel connected, through the expression of joy we find celebration, through passion we create beauty. But what happens when we feel anger? When we feel overwhelmed? Or sad?
These emotions are valuable too. Anger, sadness, frustration, overwhelm these are considered negative emotions but what if we started looking at them as signs? Messages from ourselves to ourselves? Is anger actually telling us that our boundaries are being pushed? Is sadness telling us that things are changing inside of us? Is frustration telling us we are not in alignment with what we really want in our lives? When we are overwhelmed are we not valuing our own needs? Yes! Yes! Yes! and Yes!! Absolutely, these emotions are telling us about ourselves. Usually we look outside of ourselves for the cause or source, but next time look inside for the message. The next time someone makes you feel really angry, so mad you think “how dare he do that to me!” Stop yourself and ask “why is this action making me so angry?” Look inside. Is that person reflecting a part of you that you don’t want to deal with? Are you being pushed to step outside of your comfort zone? Remember when we grow as a person we increase our comfort zone which can be uncomfortable; but that is another topic for another time. Think back to a time when you were driving in your car and someone really made you mad by cutting you off. You thought to yourself “what a jerk!! Who does he think he is?” Probably a whole lot more when through your mind that wasn’t too polite. Now stop and think what was going on with you? Why did you get so mad? The other driver probably just made a mistake, we have all done it. But why did you get so mad? Were you rushing to get somewhere? Was work being stressful? Were you having relationship troubles in your life? Most likely you can find an area of your life that was causing you negative emotions you weren’t facing and dealing with. Did you know that tears are healthy? Scientists have shown that tears consist of the chemicals in the body that are created when we have emotions. Extreme joy can cause you to cry because it’s a release of too much chemical created from the extreme emotion, same with sadness, anger and every other emotion. The more we supress the expression and ignore the emotion the more these chemicals build up in our bodies. We start to wallow in our emotions – literally! These chemicals run around our bodies creating chaotic states inside ourselves, an overload of emotional chemicals fueling each other and inspiring more to be created. They can build and build and build till we actually feel like we are drowning in our own emotions! Have you ever looked so forward to a night of relaxation? You plan it out all week, finally the night arrives, your body is exhausted, on go your comfy jamies and out comes the popcorn or munchies, you get everything in order, dim the lights and curl up in your favorite spot, turn on that movie or book you have been looking forward to. Just as you lose yourself in the story….. your body interrupts you to go to the bathroom. You get back to your comfy spot, lose yourself in the story again and …… your body interrupts you again…. Drink, bathroom, whatever. You start to think “why? Why? I just want to relax!” What is actually happening is you are letting those overload of emotional chemicals go. Same thing happens when you meditate or any other form of relaxation; you start to let your emotions go. This is healthy, this is balance, this is valuing ourselves. Give yourself permission to cry, to lose yourself in a good story, meditate or some other activity that restores you. It is just as important and worthy of your time as brushing your teeth and washing your hair or eating a good meal. One last thing I want to say…..as important as it is for you to honour and value yourself, it is equally important for your loved ones. They too deserve time and freedom to tune into their emotions. So the next time your spouse is sitting there doing nothing and the list of chores is growing; relax and trust that they are doing something important, they are valuing themselves. The next time your children are crying let them, allow them to get out their emotions, provide a safe place for them to honour their emotions. Teach them the Value of their Tears. A word on Free Will. Free Will is our ability to choose our actions and our actions are what shape the elements of our life. Action is choice. We make choices everyday as to our attitude, what we will do, what we say, what we think, and what we feel. We must take responsibility for our action and put conscious choice into our lives for we are always shaping and creating what we are living. Sometimes that is a tough concept to swallow because we can't believe we chose to live these current events, but reality is you did and you continue to do so. Most of us create subconsciously, without intention but rather through reaction but once we take the responsibility for ourselves and make conscious choices we start to create with intention what we want. This is when life gets exciting!
Take a self-discovery tour of yourself, really see who you are and what actions/choices you have been making that are shaping your life. Decide who you really want to be and start making choices of actions that align with that person. As you align your actions (ie: your thoughts, words, emotions, expression and actual doing) your life will begin to take a new shape. It is about taking responsibility for yourself. You have complete Free Will, no one is controlling you and no one is making decisions for you. If you want something different then what you have then you must make different choices. |
